Favre will be 40 in a few days – October 10, 2009. Favre, #4, will be 4-0 as a Minnesota Viking after today's game against his old team - the Green Bay Packers. If When Favre wins today, he goes down in historeeee as the only Quarterback to beat every single team in the NFL!! The Packers finally get to see what the rest of us have been putting up with all these years. Go Vikings!!

Favre Undefeated - Wins First Game as Minnesota Viking 17-13

Brett Favre is 1-0 - undefeated - with the Vikings in his pre-season debut as a Minnesota Viking QB against the Kansas City Chiefs!

Final score:  Vikings 17 - Chiefs 13.  :)  Ha ha ha. 

I was born in Minnesota, moved to Wisconsin the year Favre started for Green Bay. As a Viking fan living within 40 miles of Lambeau Field and having had to put up with Favre running around like a wiggle worm and wondering why the heck the Vikings couldn't stop him, I am so excited to see this NFL season get underway. Finally, the Packer fans will get to see what we've had to put up with all these years.

MVL: Most Valuable Lesson learned watching Favre these past 17 years? Don't ever give up on Brett Favre cuz he never gives up. Favre brings drama and excitement to the field wherever he plays, but especially here, now. Enjoy it  folks, and remember, it's just a fun, enjoyable, drama filled, game.

Favre Viking Football - 8/21/09 Vikings vs Chiefs - Favre's First Play as a Viking

Pre-season Game:  Minnesota Vikings (1-0) vs Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)

Friday night Favre Viking Football - Crowd goes nuts as Favre gets in the huddle.

Flash bulbs going off all over the place on the first play!

Favre's first play as a Minnesota Viking QB is a run to Adrian Peterson for 5 yards.

Second play is an incomplete pass!

Third play is a reception by Harvin from Favre...4th and short.

Went for it on 4th down, Peterson stuffed on 4th down. Chiefs take over on their own 48-yardline.

So that's it - that's Favre's debut as a Minnesota Viking QB!

Favre Viking Football, Pancakes and Wisconsin Football Memories

Favre Viking Football tickets are selling better than hotcakes. 

I know, I've made a lot of hotcakes, or pancakes, back when I owned a little cafe during the really, really big Favre years here in Wisconsin.  Boy it was rough being a Viking fan in Wisconsin back then!  To watch Brett Favre run around that field like a maniac or some kind of wiggle worm, I'd scratch my head and pull my hair out wondering why the heck the Vikings couldn't catch the little bugger!  Well, it was just very stressful in an enjoyable dramatic sort of way, that's all I can say. 

The capacity for the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN is listed at 64,111 for football games, I don't think I ever sold more than 1,000 hotcakes/pancakes in any one day! 

It is so refreshingly delightful and delicious that all my wonderful Packer friends here in Wisconsin will now get to see what the rest of the football world has been suffering through and putting up with since Favre walked onto Lambeau Field in 1992!  Ha!  May you enjoy the drama as much as I did and did not at times. 

We used to bet Jerseys on the Viking-Packer games when I was in the restaurant business.  Employees and Customers alike were foolish enough to bet that the Packers would beat the Vikings on any given Sunday.  In the almost 9 years than I ran that little Cafe, I only had to wear a Packer Jersey once!!  Even though the Vikings lost to the Packers more than once in all that time, yes, 'tis true; they would usually bet and lose and then be afraid or reluctant to bet on the next game, not wanting to wear purple once again!  Ha ha ha. 

Of course they did have a good laugh when the Packers won SuperBowl XXXI (1/26/1997) against the Patriots 35-21 down der in Weesiana.  Some of my employees redecorated my little cafe with all sorts of GB Packer junk and stuff.  I needed therapy after that.  :)  Although in some strange sort of way, I was quite happy for Brett Favre, which I believe is a testament to his being one with the game, in a zen like way.  Favre is a football player who comes on the field to provide that drama to the fans, to play, have fun, and win! 

But I had the last laugh insofar as SuperBowls are concerned when Elway and the Broncos beat the Packers in SuperBowl XXXII (1/25/1998) over der in San Diego, by a score of 31-24!  Ha ha ha!  (last laugh.)  In the same strange way that I was happy for Favre in 1997, I was a little sad that he had to lose that day, but of course I was just as happy that Elway got his first win too!

All of this history of course is what makes Favre Viking Football so sweeeeeet!! If Favre had won that last SuperBowl, well things would probably be different.

 Brett Favre now has his own page on the Minneapolis Star Tribune news site!

In the Green Bay Gazette forums they're whining about the loss of Favre and tourism to the area. There will be plenty of tourists in town on November 1st when Favre Viking Football comes to town!

I wonder how Brett Favre's Steakhouse is going fair here in Green Bay, Wisconsin?  

Speaking of Fairs - I wonder if Favre will show up at the 2009 Minnesota State Fair in St Paul, MN.  I know other football players have done so in the past.  Growing up in Minneapolis, I have very fond memories of the greatest State Fair in the USA.  This year, 2009, it runs from August 27 through September 7th - it always ends on Labor Day.

Brett Favre steps onto the practice field at Winter Park in Mankato, Minnesota for his very first practice with the Minnesota Vikings on August 18, 2009. 

This YouTube video, a ESPN Sports Highlight video, shows what was happening in the minutes before Favre walks out of the practice building and onto the practice field.  As reporters and fans alike await the arrival of the legendary, future hall-of-famer Brett Favre, you can see and feel the excitement building.  This video is over 8 minutes long, Favre appears around the 6:20 marker. 

4:17 time marker:  #7 - Current starting Quarterback Tavaris Jackson appears - has no comment

5:00 time marker:  #40 - Tight End James Kleinsasser appears and says "it's just me!'

5:45 time marker:  #28 - Running Back Adrian Peterson appears grinning from ear to ear!

6:20 time marker:  #4 - Brett Favre appears, red shirt and Viking helmet in hand! 

The remaining minutes show Favre walking around the field greeting other players, adjusting his helmet - don't worry, it'll fit just fine; all to hoots and hollers from who knows where - players, fans, reporters, I'm not sure.

"I came back to win!"  

"You know what, I think as quarterback, you kinda go as the team goes and do what you're asked to do.  You never know, there will come a time when you have to make plays, I''m not sure if physically I can still make the plays I used to; my mind says yes, but the body says no.  I came back to win - that's all I came back for."    

"My expectations are high, I didn't come here to lose. From outside in and inside out, this (Vikings) is a good football team so the sky's the limit.  We all know how hard it is, it's hard to repeat.  It's a small window, I think this team can be as good as we wanna be."      

"This (Vikings) practice will be easier from a system standpoint.  It was so much easier today.  The guys in New York (Jets) were great, but it was difficult, although I didn't think it would be.  Here there are subtle changes, but the formations for the most part, the routes, are the same.  Today I didn't miss a beat calling plays, it came out pretty easy."

The first Viking-Packer game on the 2009 Viking schedule is October 5, 2009 - Monday night!  Favre turns 40 on October 10, 2009!  This will be the 4th regular season game of the Vikings schedule.  So if Favre wins all 4 games, he will be 4 for 40 by his birthday!  Ha ha ha! 

Favre's Consistency:

Favre has been very consistent for the Packers and even began to peak again in 2007 when the Packers decided not to bring him back.  Big mistake.  After one year with the New York Jets in 2008 his numbers were almost as good as they were with the Packers.  Will Favre's competitive spirit and nature propel him and the Vikings to their first ever Super Bowl victory in 2009 or 2010?  Only time will tell. He probably knows the Vikings team 10 x better than the Jets, and he's a quick study, so we're looking forward to some great games!

The News Media is a bit miffed:

The news media seems a bit miffed.  Ha ha ha.  The fact that they weren't let in on this little secret has caused them to come out swinging - they're mad at the Vikings, mad at Favre.  Why did we need to know before we needed to know anyway?   Chris Carter, former Vikings Wide Receiver, even seems miffed, suggesting that Viking Coach Childress hasn't lived up to their end of the bargain when it comes to QB's Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels; suggesting that Childress owes Jackson and Rosenfels.  So what would they do I wonder, if they had the opportunity to acquire the best QB in the league. 

Packers Teammates on the big news:

Packers teammates are pumped and taking it all in stride, looking forward to the challenge - Donald Driver continues to say Favre is a great player, but that won't change who stays on top of the division this year.  One player is even looking forward to getting a good hit on Favre and told him to put it on the bulletin board!  Ha ha ha. 

Vikings Practice Field in Mankato, MN: 

Brett Favre was wearing a red #4 jersey at the Minnesota Vikings practice field in Mankato, MN.  Watching him throw around a few passes is pretty cool, I must say!  Viking receivers seem to be having a little trouble catching the practice passes - get used to it guys!  QB Jackson and Rosenfel expressed their dismay at the signing, but plan to be there as back-ups when they're called upon.  If history is any indicator, they won't be called upon too often - that's why Aaron Rodgers of GB never got any playing time - Favre likes to play! Ha ha ha.  Sorry, I can't stop laughing - this is about the best news to come across the wires since the Packers lost the Superbowl to the Denver Broncos on January 25, 1998!  Ha ha.
